Baltimore Mental Health
Systems, Inc.
(BMHS) is a non-profit agency established by Baltimore City to perform
the governmental function of managing the public mental health system
for Baltimore City. BMHS is the local mental health authority or Core
Service Agency for Baltimore City. In this capacity BMHS oversees a
network of predominately private non-profit providers that deliver
services to over 30,000 Baltimore City residents who are Medicaid
recipients or are uninsured. BMHS's primary activities focus on:
- Improving access to care
- Expanding and improving the range of services
available to Baltimore City residents with a mental illness
- Ensuring accountability and active
collaborations with city and state agencies.

Behavioral Health...
The
Network of Care
Behavioral Health website was launched Statewide in Maryland on May 30,
2008. This site is an interactive web-based application where
consumers, families and providers can easily access local behavioral
health resources. Features include a services directory, a resource
library, community message boards, legislative and advocacy information
and a personalized services page for each individual. The Baltimore
City site can be accessed at the following address: http://baltimorecity.md.networkofcare.org/mh/home/index.cfm.
The Baltimore City resource directory listings continue to grow. If you
are a provider of behavioral health services and are interested in
adding your contact information to the Baltimore City Network of Care
site or would like to review your current listing, please visit the

FY 2010-11 Annual Plan
The Baltimore Mental Health Systems, Inc. Mental
Health Plan for Fiscal Years 2010-11 is now available. The Plan
includes: a description of BMHS' role as the City local mental health
authority; demographic data that highlight areas of need in the City;
assessment of needs with input from key stakeholders; state and local
mental health system utilization data; summary of recent
accomplishments; and goals, objectives and strategies for the next two
fiscal years.
